Rules for parcel transportation

 

Shuttle bus parcel transportation service

1. Parcel transportation by shuttle busses enables individuals and organisations to facilitate intercity shipment of small parcels in Lithuania.

2. This transportation service involves parcels of maximum 15 kg weight which satisfy requirements of the Passenger and Luggage Transportation Regulations. Parcels should be transported in a separate luggage compartment of a bus.

3. A bus driver is obliged to collect parcels from the parcel department before boarding of passengers, and to hand over the delivered parcels to the parcel department after disembarking of passengers.

4. Packed parcels shall be accepted from customers by personnel of the parcel terminal at a bus station and shall be dispatched by a scheduled trip fixed with the customer. Parcels should bear precise addresses of the sender and recipient. If a parcel cannot be sent by a bus trip fixed with the customer (e.g. cancellation of a trip, etc.), then the parcel shall be sent by the closest bus trip, notifying the sender at the first opportunity. Parcel departments may provide parcel packing services. Parcel packing charges shall be established individually by each carrier.

7. The personnel of the parcel terminal shall receive the delivered parcels from bus drivers and hand them out to the recipient on presentation of a document specifying the bearer's personal number, whereas a representative of a legal entity shall additionally present a power of attorney issued by the company.

8. The parcel receiving personnel shall fill in the parcel receipts (3 copies), take a standard fee from the customer and give the customer a cash receipt and, if requested by the customer, an invoice.

9. Bus drivers shall collect parcels for transportation from, and hand over the delivered parcels to parcel departments at bus stations. Bus drivers are liable for the safety of parcels collected for transportation.

10. When accepting parcels the personnel of parcel terminals and bus drivers shall check the integrity of the parcel packing, and shall not accept parcels if the parcel packing is damaged.

11. If a parcel cannot be delivered to the destination due to objective causes the parcel shall be immediately returned to the parcel terminal of the point of sending, from which the parcel shall be sent by the next bus trip.

12. Parcels delivered by bus drivers from Lithuanian city parcel departments will be kept at a parcel terminal free of charge for two complete of incomplete calendar days inclusive of the delivery date (according to the time label of the stamp). A charge established by the parcel department of a bus station shall be paid for each other additional complete or incomplete working day of storage. A storage charge will not be taken for calendar days off regardless of the fact whether or not the terminal operates on those days.

13. If a parcel is not reclaimed within 20 calendar days (counting from the delivery date) it shall be returned to the parcel terminal of the place of sending. Parcels shall be returned together with copies of receipts of the delivered parcels after completing a parcel return list. A notice of the returned parcel shall be given to the sender (customer). The return of a parcel is free of charge, whereas safekeeping of a returned parcel shall be charged according to a standard rate.

14. Parcels may be transported in special packing.

15. Parcels handed over for transportation may be evaluated. Transportation of evaluated parcels is subject to additional charge at the rate of 10% of the evaluation sum. Should the customer disagree about the evaluation sum the parcel will not be accepted for transportation.

16. Where two or more small (separately packed) parcels are sent to the same recipient a separate parcel ticket/receipt shall be filled in for each parcel and transportation of each parcel shall be charged separately.

17. A company that has accepted a parcel from the customer for transportation or safekeeping shall be responsible for the safety of the parcels. If a parcel in transit is lost or damaged a compensation equal to 10 (ten) transportation charges will be paid to the customer in the case of non-evaluated parcel, and a compensation equal to the sum of evaluation and transportation charge will be paid in the case of evaluated parcel.

18. Cash and personal documents shall not be accepted for transportation.
